Chess Pieces ZAGREB BLACK - Legendary Tournament Pieces
Legendary chess pieces used in the world's greatest tournaments during the 1950s and 60s. Ebonized black pieces give the board a darker, classic appearance.
- Made from acacia and boxwood: durable materials where the black pieces are ebonized
- Weighted pieces: stable feel in play
- Available in different sizes: choose the size that fits your board
- Two extra queens: white and black for pawn promotion
- Russian-style knight: curved design and craftsmanship details
Tournament History From Decades Past
The Zagreb pieces were one of the most popular models in the chess world's most important tournaments during the 1950s and 1960s. They were used, among others, in the 1959 Candidates Tournament, held in three Yugoslav cities – Bled, Belgrade, and Zagreb. This is a chess set with a story.
Dark Elegance in Russian Style
The ebonized black pieces resemble the color of expensive ebony – they give the board a darker, more valuable appearance than traditional pieces. The knight represents Russian style: its curved design and details are craftsmanship at its finest.
The other pieces exude a more minimalist aesthetic. Together they form a classically beautiful whole that is pleasant to both the eye and the hand. Suitable for home, chess club, or as a gift for a chess enthusiast.
